It’s getting warmer and each passing day gets us closer to that magical time of year called…summer!

We don’t know about you, but that makes us want to grab our towels and sunscreen, and head for the beach! You may know Orcas Island as the ‘Emerald Isle’ because of its beautiful hiking trails. That’s true, but there are also really nice Orcas Island beaches for locals and visitors alike to enjoy.

If relaxing and exploring by the seashore is one of your favorite vacation activities, we’ve got you covered! Keep reading to learn more about our favorite Orcas Island beaches.

Crescent Beach

Crescent Beach is located just outside Eastsound Village and on you way to Moran State Park. This beach offers stunning views of East Sound itself. Grab something delicious to eat in the Village, and wander to this charming beach. Explore the long stretch of shoreline looking for cool rocks, or dip your toes in the water. Either way you’ll find a relaxing way to spend your afternoon on Orcas Island.

If you’re up for a short hike, check out the Crescent Beach Preserve on the opposite side of the road for a quick but lovely walk through woodlands.

North Beach

Are you looking for the perfect spot to catch the Sunset by the water? Look no further than North Beach. Just a short drive from Moran State Park, this pebbly beach offers stunning views of those incredible island sunsets we so often get here on Orcas. You’ll find locals and visitors alike enjoying the panoramic views of the outer islands as another warm summer day comes to a close.

Obstruction Pass State Park

Enjoy a hike through the woods and along cliffs to the beaches at Obstruction Pass State Park. Located on the eastern side of the island, it’s only a ten-minute drive from Moran State Park. Explore tidepools and look for sea stars while looking back down Orcas’ rugged shoreline. Looking out on the horizon you’ll find the view dotted with smaller gum drop islands and possibly even a ferry making its way through the pass.

No matter which beach you end up at, you’re sure to be inspired by the incredible beauty of Orcas Island. After all that beach-combing, you’ll want the perfect spot to call home for the night.
