What is glamping?

Our glamping experiences are everything that you’ve always wanted camping to be – authentic, effortless and inspiring. You get the romance of the tree branches dancing behind canvas, the patter of the wood pecker, the crackle of the campfire, a cold nose around 3am and that unavoidable walk to the washroom.Glamping Roasting Marshmallows

You’ll toss aside your electronics, forget about your car keys and remember what quality time and exploration are all about. Our glamping sites in Moran State Park are smack in the middle of a wilderness wonderland so you’ll have more time to cast, hike, float, pedal, paddle, read, think and feel refreshed and exhausted all at once.

You’ll remember that there’s an amazing natural world surrounding you that there isn’t an app for, which you can’t tag but that you need to appreciate – more.

Is glamping more expensive than regular camping?

Not with LEANTO.

Let’s consider a family of four heading out on their first camping adventure to enjoy some unplugged quality time. This family hasn’t embarked on an outdoor adventure before so they hop online and fill their virtual cart at a popular online outdoor retailer to gear up with just the basics:

Four Person Tent: 1 x $100 = $100; Kids’ Sleeping Bags: 2 x $40 = $80; Parents’ Sleeping Bags: 2 x $50 = $100; Air mattresses: 4 x $30 = $120; Lantern: 1 x $25 = $25; Flashlights: 1 x $40 = $40; Pillows: 4 x $11 – $44; Camp Chairs: 4 x $25 = $100; Cooler: 1 x $25 = $25; Next stop, their State’s campground booking engine: Campsite: 2 x $35 = $70; Booking Fee: 1 x $15 = $15.

The total for two nights in a simple camp setup and a family of four: $719 before taxes. Those same two nights in an amped up site at our camp in Moran State Park could cost as little as $299.98 before taxes. Quite a steal if you also factor in all of the time you’d save packing, setting up, tearing down and cleaning up.

Of course, if you camp 3 – 4 times per year (more than the average person) investing in camping gear and finding a traditional spot could be a better deal for you.

Is glamping really camping?

LEANTO Washington State Glamping Sites

We’re not sure what else you’d call it. We’ve outfitted walk-in tent campsites with . . . tents. Classic canvas wall tents to be specific. Sure, they’re furnished a bit nicer than you’d be able to pack and setup but that’s the idea. We offer a kicked up sort of camp.

Our glamping sites are the real deal:

They all require a short walk to get to both the washrooms and the parking area and none have any utilities. That means real firewood fires, a walk with a jug to the water spigot and battery operated lanterns and flashlights. No phone service is the icing on the cake as you’ll get the chance to indulge in a comfortable camping experience with the setup/teardown/pack-up pieces smoothed over for an unforgettable adventure.

You can ditch all of the digital distraction and reconnect with nature – and your camping companions.

What’s the foodservice?

DIY; you’ll have access to a campfire ring with a folding grill and a teapot and the rest is up to you. If you’d like to make it even easier to create your preferred campfire cuisine, go ahead and add our cook out kit which includes a set of BBQ tools, a deluxe cooking fork, foil, a cast iron frying pan and cast iron pot to borrow.

Because you’ll have to think less about setup, cleanup and packing, you can focus more on your campfire menu.

Our goal is simple – to get everyone outside. We’re spoiled by amazing natural places that require care and attention so that they may inspire future generations to do the same. According to the 2013 American Camper Report presented by the Coleman Company, Inc. and The Outdoor Foundation, camping participation declined from 2011 – 2012 – losing 13.6 million participants. This represents a churn rate of 32 percent. According to the 2014 version of this same report: camping participation declined again from 2012 – 2013 – losing 11 million participants. This represents a churn rate of 27 percent. We can’t afford to let this trend to continue. That’s why we’re restyling outdoor lodging.

So, go ahead and book your glamping adventure, give us a ring or drop us a line if you have any questions. Our Adventure Ambassadors are standing by and eager to get you glamping in the great outdoors.
