We all know that Moran State Park on Orcas Island has plenty to offer for land lubbers with over 5,000 acres to explore but did you know that there are five different freshwater lakes available for fishing?!  That’s right, Cascade Lake, two Twin Lakes, Mountain Lake and Summit Lake are all located in Moran State park – just a short hike or drive from our Orcas Island Glamping Sites!

Cascade Lake is the most well-known freshwater fishing lake on Orcas Island and is actually stocked annually by the Department of Fish and Wildlife.  You’ll need a fishing license (we hear that you can get a two-day permit from Eastsound Sporting Goods!) plus a Discover Pass if you’re not glamping with us or camping so you can cast away to hook a prize rainbow, cutthroat or kokanee trout.

LEANTO Moran State Park Fishing Cascade Lake

If you plan to take to the seas in your own vessel, you’ll launch from the ramp at Midway Campground and need a watercraft launching permit.  Bring your oars, your electric motors and/or your muscles as internal combustion engines are not allowed on any of these pristine lakes!

No boat?  No sweat!  Paddleboats and rowboats can both be rented from the snack bar at Cascade Lake.
Headed up to Mountain Lake?  There’s a boat launch there, too.  If you’d like even more wilderness with your fishing, the Twin Lakes are for you!  You’ve got to hike there and, while we’ve heard that there are plenty of fish in these fishing holes, they’re tougher to come by as they’re not stocked with fish every year like Mountain Lake and Cascade Lake are.

Remember, the lakes are open to fishing from the 4th Saturday in April to October 31st every year.

After a long day casting away, you’ll love making camp in our tricked out tents.  Glamping + Casting = Amazing Angler getaway!
